It’s Snowing in Summer!

AMARULA: This morning I was about to go outside when I saw this: SNOW! The snow had returned! The Human had lied about winter being over.

AMARULA: It was everywhere!

AMARULA: Oh yeah…I’m not going out there! This summer snow is even more insidious then winter snow–some of it even got in the house! And it just wasn’t melting! And it was somehow warm out! What the H$#@! The Human merely pointed to the sky and shoved me out!

AMARULA: The sky is falling! It’s worse than I thought– the sky is falling!

ZULU: No you foggy-headed feline! Mom was pointing to the trees. It’s a crabapple tree that is shedding its flowers! It isn’t snow, it’s flower petals! Look at me! You don’t see me all scared and hiding from the so-called-snow!

AMARULA: As much as I hated to admit it, Zulu had a point (never repeat that I actually said that!).

AMARULA: So I ventured forth…

AMARULA: I do not trust this thing called flower petals…I’m watching you…flower snow…I’m watching you…

Frodo Tries To Get His Foot In The Door

It’s the human here! I made the mistake of trying to close my office door to actually get some work done. Someone had different ideas…any guess who?

At first Frodo was quite patient

Frodo’s patience did not last long! Now I know how the scratches got at the bottom of the door!

You have to admire his persistence!

Even Zulu tried to get in on the act

Success!

Here are Amarula’s Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by 15andmeowing and McGuffy’s Reader!

  1. A law I would like to see passed is _all catnip and Temptation tuna treats must be immediately surrendered to the best looking tortie in a 5-mile vicinity!
  2. My favorite card game is _Go fish, of course.
  3. With Summer unofficially here,  I can reclaim my dominion over the great outdoors .
  4. A favourite Summer memory is  when I first met my true love Charlie (who has sadly moved!).

Sunday Selfie: Zulu in the Great Outdoors

ZULU: Here I am in all my glory girlcats! Mom lets me and Frodo outdoors on supervised visits. I love it out here–chasing squirrels, sitting in the sun and smelling the fresh air. But the real reason I love it outside so much…cause the greenery really sets off my lovely chocolate fur!

An Uninvited Guest

AMARULA: I am in a bad mood! Wanna guess why?

AMARULA: My number one nemesis Frodo. As per usual, I was having a pleasant nap and the Orange Menace snuck up on me.

AMARULA: All I have to do is give him one good kick with my back leg and he would roll right off the couch! Should I do it?

AMARULA: Well maybe I won’t bother just this once. As long as he doesn’t snuggle closer! Best I conserve my energy for chasing all the squirrels in the back yard!

Here are Amarula’s Friendly Fill-Ins hosted by 15andmeowing and McGuffy’s Reader!

  1. My idea of roughing it is what you see above! Letting Frodo nap near me without beating him up! I truly am a martyr. I should be sainted really!

2. I never get sick of talking about myself of course! Just as I am sure, dear readers, you never get sick of hearing about me!

  1. My youth returns in full force every time I get a sniff of catnip or spend time chasing Frodo and Zulu around.
  2. My “golden years” would be a lot more golden if the Orange Menace and Zulu the Zero were not around!

How Much Do You Love Me?

ZULU: With all this rainy weather the nights are still cold here so it’s nice that my little bro Frodo and I get to enjoy a few more nights in front of the fire. As you can see, Frodo loves to stretch out!

ZULU: Oh I see I missed a spot in his ear during our nightly bath so let me get that.

ZULU: Now the other ear.

ZULU: Can’t forget myself of course!

ZULU: Yep. Just about ready for bed but first the all important question: How much do you love me Frodo? Spread your paws wide!

ZULU: Wow! That’s a lot! And how much do you love Mom and Amarula and pretty much everyone really…

ZULU:Yep! That’s a whole lot too! Now the most important question. Raise your hands if you think I’m better looking than you!

ZULU:Yep! That’s about right! I don’t care what Amarula says, you’re a very smart cat!

Who’s That Handsome Mancat?

FRODO: Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! I’m so excited! Look at the lovely collar mom got me!

FRODO: Mom says I have to wear it because I am so fast when we go on my supervised outdoor explorations that I get real close to catching birds (though of course I was only trying to befriend the birds cause I want every creature to be my friend)! And this Birdsbesafe collar (like the one Amarula wears) is supposed to make us more visible to songbirds. (You can read about the collar here)

AMARULA: The depths of your naivete never cease to astonish me! You look even more like a clown than I do! How can you like the collar?

FRODO: I don’t know why Amarula hates her collar so much! I think it’s the best thing ever!! Now I am almost as good-looking as my big brother Zulu!

FRODO: Well, what do you think lady cats? Does the collar make me look even cuter?

Week 54: May 19, 2017

  1. I have googled _myself many times but have sadly discovered that I am not nearly as famous as I should be. Though I do like finding information on Africa’s most famous liquor (here) which the Human says she named me after cause she found me on the streets of Cape Town when she lived in Africa for two years.
  2. I have_been trying to sell Frodo and Zulu_ on Ebay for years! So far no takers!

  1. I think often about ways I can get the Human to give me more wet food! Or at the very least give me Frodo and Zulu’s share of the wet food!

  1. Zulu and Frodo think not at all. Truly, I am not even certain they are sentient!

The Tender Side Of Amarula: Chin Scratches and Tummy Rubs!

Amarula would not want any of you to know this but–despite how she acts around Zulu and Frodo and how “ferocious” she likes to appear even regarding “the Human”–she is a very tender cat. One of her favorite things in the world is for me to hold her in my lap with her tummy exposed while she gets tummy rubs or chin scritches.

She especially loves when she gets tummy scratches while sitting with me outside watching the squirrels.

She positively melts when I rub her chin!

AMARULA: Hey! You’re not photographing this are you? I have a reputation to uphold!

Shhhhh. Don’t tell Amarula you know her secret!
