They Missed Me!

Clearly the felines really missed me while I was away in Africa! They still won’t leave my side. While I was trying to work, Frodo kept trying to knead me and Zulu stood in front of the computer demanding attention.

ZULU: Frodo, that’s enough. It’s my turn for some attention!

ZULU: Mom what about me? (Zulu loves poking me if he thinks I am not paying enough attention to him)

Amarula was busy trying to make it clear to yet another neighbourhood cat, this one named Baz, (you may recall that we are getting frequent visits from Harry aka the Other Orange Menace, as Amarula likes to call him) that he was not welcome in our backyard!

Arrival!

I am back from my trip to South Africa and Zimbabwe and while I was very happy to get home and see the cats, at first their reaction to my arrival was more muted.

ZULU and FRODO: How dare you leave us for so long!?

But come nighttime the cats were already softening up. Amarula made a rare appearance on the bed (she almost never sleeps with me) and actually sat beside Frodo. Even Frodo seemed shocked!

Soon Zulu joined us and we had a good cuddle. They finally forgave me!

Here are just a few photos of what we saw. For me the highlight was a pack of very rare wild dogs (aka painted dogs), a brown hyena, baby lions and an elephant that came right into camp!

Do I hear snoring? What’s that under the blanket?

FRODO: Mom can you please let an orange mancat have a nap? I need to restore my strength so I can chase Amarula around the house and finally get her to play with me. You know how much she loves when I do that!

The Catnip Patch is Back (Sorta)

We are having a very mild winter here in my corner of Canada and Frodo insisted on going outside to check how his catnip patch was doing

While most of the catnip is dead, there are a few sprouts starting to push out of the ground and Frodo spent an enjoyable afternoon rubbing all over it

He was clearly in a state of bliss.

Until, finally, exhausted, he fell into a catnip coma!

Love is in The Air

You may recall from my post a few weeks ago that there is a neighbourhood cat named Harry who is really trying to win over the gang and convince them he could be their new best friend!

Frodo is on board and wants to invite Harry inside for a play date but Zulu and Amarula (in a rare moment of agreement) are definitely not in the mood for Harry’s love and friendship.

FRODO: Let’s invite Harry in! He is such a handsome cat it’s like I am looking into a mirror

ZULU: No way! I am outta here

ZULU: Now he is making house calls at night too!? Intolerable!

FRODO: Come on squeeze through the bars Harry!

AMARULA: If that orange menace comes any closer I am going to use him as my own personal scratching post

HARRY: Come on let me in! I love visiting all the neighbours!

The Boys are Back

The boys are back to doing what they do best…nothing!


As long as it’s in front of the fire they can do nothing all day and night long!

Mom’s off to a winter escape in Anguilla for a week so it might take her awhile to visit other blogs but don’t worry about us cause her brother is moving in for the week to catsit us and he has promised to keep the fireplace on full time!!
